Ted & Muffy Freia Boots

A few weeks ago I was invited along to the newly refurbished Ted & Muffy Boutique on Castle Street, Edinburgh for a bloggers event (read my write-up of the event on the Edinburgh Bloggers page). Along with the usual glass of fizz and yummy food, Ted & Muffy gifted every blogger who attended a pair of shoes of their choice. Everyone had to find they’re ‘key’ on the tree and was asked to write their wish (choice of boots) on the label. These were all hung back up at the end of the evening so our boots could be ordered for us. This was such a cute way of gathering all our orders. I love these kinds of attention to detail at events.

Having looked on the Ted & Muffy website before the event, I knew I had to try on the Freia boots. Obviously, they are one of Ted & Muffy’s most statement boots. I went straight to them at the event and they looked just as beautiful in real life, after trying them on I knew they had to be mine. I was a little concerned about trying over the knee boots, being 5’2 I thought they might be a bit overpowering on my frame, but they fit perfectly and actually made my legs to longer (especially paired with black jeans). I’ve been waiting patiently for them to arrive, and they finally arrived first thing on Saturday morning. I promptly put them on and got my camera out. I’m pretty much in love with my new boots.

I love the statement lace-up detail on the front of the boot - don’t worry they have a zip so getting them on and off is easy. I can see these getting a lot of wear this winter. They are surprisingly comfy despite having a fairly high heel. They are made with beautiful soft suede and fully lined with leather making them really warm (perfect for wearing with skirts and dresses in winter). Ted & Muffy use the finest Italian leathers and are made by artisan European shoemakers (you can read about their craftsmanship on the Ted & Muffy website). These are very good quality boots, which is reflected in the price. I wouldn’t normally talk about such expensive items on this blog, but I do feel good quality winter boots are worth the investment and will last you a good few years.
One of the best features (alongside great design and quality) of Ted & Muffy is the fact that all their shoes and boots come in a range of widths and calf fittings, meaning everyone can find a pair to fit. I wouldn’t say I had very large calves, I do find it hard to find high boots which fit, I often can’t get the zip up or have the opposite problem of them looking like welly boots with Ted & Muffy this isn’t an issue. My legs were measured at the event to make sure my boots have a ‘fairytale fit’ (I’m a 37 if you’re interested). I don’t think I’ve ever had high leg boots fit my calves so well.

Once my boots arrived, I had to put them on straight away. I was just wearing skinny jeans and a grey jumper and as you can see they look great. I can’t wait to style them up with different outfits, I have a few looks in mind. So expect to see plenty of these boots over the coming months. I would say the Freia boots are the sexiest boots I own, and I do feel rather sassy wearing them. They remind me of something a fairy tale villain would wear (if you’ve ever watched Once Upon a Time you’ll get what I mind). But that doesn’t mean they are hard to wear, I can see these working with so many outfits, and although they are a statement boot, they’re not overpowering.
The arrival of these boots has however highlighted one of the difficulties of being a capsule wardrobe blogger. Companies contact bloggers a lot offering to send them things in return for a blog post, which lets face it is one of the best things about being a blogger. But how do you deal with this when you are trying to keep a minimal wardrobe. In the case of these boots, I have decided to switch out a pair of my ankle boots and add the Freia boots to my capsule wardrobe. I’m tempted to order a slightly more sensible pair of flat leather boots for my winter wardrobe. Currently considering either the Huntsman or Blaze. Ted & Muffy currently have 25% off your first order online if you’re interested in any of their boots.
