A couple of weeks ago I was approached by M&Co to ask if I would like to collaborate with them taking part in a style challenge. The style challenge was to style faux fur, from their range of faux fur coats and gilets. As I don’t really wear much faux fur (just the odd fur trim) I was interested in seeing if I could style some fur with my capsule wardrobe. M&Co have a great range of faux fur in the store just now including some very glamorous coats (I love this one), which would be perfect for your Christmas nights out. I decided to go for a faux fur gilet, as my lifestyle isn’t quite glamorous enough for a faux fur coat. I felt I would be able to add the gilet to my wardrobe easily and could style it more casually than a fur coat. This gilet looks great thrown over most outfits, especially over a cosy jumper with ankle boots. However for the style challenge I wanted to create a smart/casual outfit which can be worn to work, out for lunch or for a bit of Christmas shopping. I also wanted something a little more interesting than the usual jeans and a jumper.
In the end, I pulled out this red jumper dress which I had stored away for my winter wardrobe as it’s a great piece for this time of year. I teamed the dress with my Ted & Muffy Freia boots (read my post on the Freia boots), which are a beautiful soft suede and add a little luxury to any outfit. The faux fur gilet really pulls this look together adding a little glamour to such a basic dress. I added a black bobble hat for extra warmth and my Rebecca Minkoff bag which can be worn cross-body - perfect for Christmas shopping! You could switch out the boots for a pair of riding boots to create a more casual look - perfect for a pub lunch.
