Autumn Make Up Menu

November 18, 2015

Since my capsule wardrobe is helping me to save time getting dressed in the morning I have more time for makeup. Before I would always leave my makeup until last and end up having to rush, so just stuck to a bit of foundation, blush and a coat of mascara. But now I have a little more time, I have started to introduction some eye make up to my everyday look (previously this tended to just be for nights out). It’s so nice having that bit extra time to spend on myself in the morning rather than standing in front of the wardrobe wondering what to wear.

My Autumn Picks

Starting with eye makeup, I have been reaching for my MAC quad pretty much every day. I love the colours in this quad, as they are all perfect for this time of year and work really well together. The quad contains (from top left to bottom right) Antiqued, Cranberry, Mulch and Woodwinked (you can purchase here). If I had to pick a favourite I think it would be antiqued as it looks great on its own as a swipe of colour or blended into the crease (looks especially good with mulch). I also have a couple of the Maybelline Colour Tattoo‘s in Pink Gold and On and On Bronze, these are great when you just want a quick swipe of colour or as a base.
Then for the cheeks, I have MAC blush in Melba (you can buy here). Melba is a lovely light coral shade which adds just the right amount of colour to your cheeks. I think it would work well with most skin tones, and will work right into the summer months as well as autumn/winter. With this blush a little goes a long way, so use a light hand.
Like everyone else I like a bolder lip in the autumn. My current picks are MAC Plumful which is a great everyday alternative to a really bold lip. It is a more subtle berry shade, making it perfect to wear to work. For a bolder lip try Urban Decay’s matte lips in Bad Blood. I love this colour and the formula is so long lasting. I’ve also added a classic red lip into the mix as it’s the perfect lip colour for all those Christmas parties which are coming up. I’ve gone for MAC Russian Red, which is a classic Hollywood red lip and it suits everyone.
