I’ve noticed like with my casual outfits I have a similar pattern when dressing for smarter events. I have 3 go-to outfit formulas which are appropriate for any occasion. They also need minimal styling to completely change the look or dress it up.
I love wearing a leather (or leather look) skirt in the evening. They are slightly more dressy than other skirts but still feel casual and comfortable to wear. I often team mine with a button down shirt or simple blouse. With this outfit formula, the skirt is the centre of attention so it’s a good idea to keep everything else simple. Another great thing about this formula is you can wear it to work during the day as well as out in the evening. Just add heels and your good to go.
I think this may be the outfit formula you’re most likely to find me in. What can I say I’m a jeans girl at heart? This formula is perfect for drinks in the pub or a casual meal with friends. You look smart but not too done up. Stick with darker denim and you’ll be able to wear this on most occasions. As you can see I prefer a looser fitting shirt to balance out the tight fitting skinny jeans. Team with a pair of cute ankle boots or heels to smarten the look.
For smarter and more formal occasions I stick with a simple plain dress. With a basic little black dress, I can style it for a formal wedding or dress it down for a casual look. I prefer my dresses to be plain as they are often easier to style in different ways. My go-to look is to keep things simple and add heels and a festive red lip.
