What’s in My Holiday Make Up Bag

In case you didn’t already know, I’m away on holiday this week. Me and the hubby (along with the dog) are spending the week at a remote cottage in Yorkshire. The plan is to walk the dog and spend time relaxing (I made sure to book a cottage with a hot tub), with no work (or internet) to distract us. Sometimes you just need to get away from everything and just switch off. I have been busy planning extra posts and getting them written and scheduled so the blog keeps running as normal when I’m away. Although I’ll probably be pretty quiet on social media this week as I enjoy my break from the internet.
Today I thought I would share details of the makeup I’m taking away with me (I can’t remember the last time I spoke about makeup on this blog). As I’ve said the plan is just to walk the dog and relax in the hot tub, so I don’t think I’ll be wearing much makeup during the week. But I always like to have something with me just in case. I’m sure we’ll be visiting a pub (or two) and having a wander around the local village, which I’ll pop a little make up on for (don’t want to scare the locals). I do know I want to keep things natural and will be going for the ‘no makeup’ look if we do head out. I don’t know about you but I sometimes find creating a ‘no make up’ look takes as much makeup (maybe even more) than a full-on makeup look. I think I’ve managed to narrow down my makeup selection and still leave myself a few options.
For the base I’ve gone with Estee Lauder Double Wear Light, which is a great lightweight base, I’ve been mixing this foundation with the Nars Copacabana Illuminator to fake glowing skin. For concealer, I’m taking the Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer which is my go to concealer. For my skins, I’m keeping it light with MAC Melba blush which is a light peachy/coral colour, along with MAC soft and gentle as a highlight.
For eyes, I’m bringing my MAC Quad (Antiqued, Woodwinked, Sable and Cranberry) , which is my go-to eye palette. I’ve also included Benefit No Pressure as a base. For my brows, as I’ve recently had them done I’m only bringing my Benefit Gimme Brow to keep them in place. I’ve thrown in my Maxfactor False Lash Effect Mascara which is my go to drug store mascara.
For some reason I can never just have one option for my lips, so have added a few lip products into my bag. I’ve picked out 2 MAC lipsticks, Patisserie and Peach Blossom along with a bolder option from Urban Decay (Bad Blood). I’ve also brought a couple of lip glosses Maybelline Color sensation in Cashmere Rose and a Bare Minerals Moxie gloss in Rebel, I recently rediscovered the Bare Minerals one and forgot how much I love it, and it looks great with both the MAC lipsticks.
That’s all I’m taking with me, as I said I don’t think I’ll be wearing much makeup this week, so don’t want to bring too much with me. But I do want to have a couple of options in case we do go out. I think I can create a few looks (including bolder looks) with this selection.
