Before I get started, you may have noticed a few changes around here. Not only does the site have a swish new design I have migrated from Blogger over to self-hosted WordPress. Recently I’ve felt the need for a bit of change and I’ve always planned to make the move so it seemed like an ideal time. I made the move myself rather than hiring someone to do it for me. Although this wasn’t a difficult task it was very time-consuming. Going back through all my posts to add categories and SEO optimise them seemed to take forever. It ended up taking the whole weekend to get the site ready to go. Which brings me to the point of this post, I really needed a good pamper evening after such a busy weekend. Recently Fort Kinnaird (a local shopping centre) had sent me *The Body Shops new Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask to test. I decided to do a little work on my pamper evening and test out my new face mask.
In my house, a pamper evening always has to start with a long hot bubble bath. I love nothing more than shutting myself away in the bath and switching off for an hour or two. Ideally, I’ll have a glass of wine while in the bath but since this was a weekday pamper evening I went for a cup of tea (which is just as relaxing). I normally use this time to catch up with my Bloglovin feed and watch a bit of Youtube. However recently I’ve been really into listening to Podcasts whilst in the bath. This way I can light a few candles turn off the lights and shut my eyes to fully relax. I’ve been listening, the Jess Lively recently, which is all about living life with intention. After listening to a full Podcast (topping up the hot water when needed), it’s finally time to get out of the bath. After applying me body lotion, I get on with my skincare routine adding in a face mask for an extra treat. As I’ve already said I decide to test out The Body Shop Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask. I’m always on the look out for products to give my skin that healthy glow so I was really excited to try this mask.
The Body Shop Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask
The Body Shop claim that this face mask will revive tired skin, leaving it visibly smoother with boosted radiance. The mask is inspired by traditional beauty remedies using only natural ingredients, in fact, it’s 100% vegan (which is kinda cool). It contains; Acai berry extract which is rich in anti-oxidants and vitamin C to fight the appearance of fatigue, Guarana seed extract which is known for its energy boosting properties and Babassu oil which helps to soften, smooth and revitalise the skin. It definitely sounds like it’s exactly what my skin needed after a busy few days (and nights).
The first thing you notice about this mask is the gorgeous smell. It’s very fresh and fruity, which I’m guessing comes from the Acai berry. The second thing you notice is it looks a lot like a jar of jam, which if I’m honest is a little off putting. But once you get over the feeling of putting jam on your face it applies to the skin really well. I use a foundation brush to apply my face masks, as I find this much easier than using my hands (also way less messy). The mask goes on really smoothly and has a cooling sensation on the skin. I did feel a slight tingle, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. Although if you have sensitive skin this could be an issue. The mask came off just as easily as it went on, I didn’t need to scrub my face at all to remove it. I used a face cloth to remove the mask and it came off with one wipe of the flannel. After removing the mask I completed my skincare routine with my usual serum and moisturiser.
I’m really impressed with this mask after just once use I could see a clear difference in my skin. Trust me when I say it was looking really dull and tired. After removing the mask I no longer looked tired and dull, there was a subtle glow to the skin. The gentle exfoliation left the skin feeling smoother and it looked a little healthier. I think that with regular use this face could have a real impact leaving skin smooth and radiant. I will definitely be adding this mask into my skincare routine. The Body Shop recommend using this 2 to 3 times a week, but I think I’ll stick to once a week. Mainly because I don’t have time to do a face mask that frequently and I also think that could be too often for my skin.
If you want to try out this mask for yourself, you can get it at any Body Shop and online for £15 (75ml tub). There are 4 other masks in the new range from The Body Shop which all sound amazing. I would like to try the deep nourishing mask and the charcoal purifying glow mask next.
