After Monday’s Post (Read the fluid capsule wardrobe) you would think that it is still very much winter here in Scotland. Yes, it has been freezing cold, with more snow than in winter but we have had the occasional signs of spring sunshine. On Saturday I woke up to find the sun shining and obviously had to make the most of it and get a few blog photos taken. I even managed to persuade my other half to take outfit pictures for me (this almost never happens).
Although I take most of my pictures inside (with the help of a couple of studio lights and a tripod) I love getting outside in natural light. As this is Scotland and you can never fully trust the weather these pictures were taken in the back garden (easy to run inside in case it decided to rain). Because I knew I wasn’t going far I decided to throw on a dress as even I get a bit fed up with jeans all the time. I even braved bare legs (I apologise for how pale my skin is just now) and wasn’t that cold. This must mean spring is on its way.
I picked up this denim shirt dress from Topshop last year and I think it’s an incredibly versatile dress. It looks good worn alone like I did here as well as layered with tights and boots for colder days. It came with a denim D-ring belt which I switched out for this *Gant leather belt. I was sent this belt a few weeks ago and have been waiting for a chance to wear it. Being petite I love adding belts to dresses to pull in and define my waist. I find it stops me getting lost in a mass of fabric. It’s definitely one of my top tips for wearing shirt dresses as they can be a little shapeless worn alone, but you can create shape and definition by adding a belt. Changing the belt is also a great way to switch up an outfit, very useful when you have a minimal wardrobe.
LOVE this outfit! I so wish I could pull of belted dresses, but I have big hips and I cannot lie.. *Cough* Anyways, this is a fab outfit, my milk bottle legs won't be going further than seeing or back garden.lol Loving the boots, such a nice shade. 🙂
I love your outfit, you look lovely. My legs are in dire need of waxing, my other half is a huge Star Wars fan and he told me I resembled Chewbacca last night, how romantic! Lovely outfit, you look really nice, the dress and boots are stunning 🙂
