Since moving into my new home last year I have been slowly working my way through every room decorating them to suit our style. I wanted to take my time to choose how I wanted each room to look so didn’t want to rush into anything. In the past couple of weeks, I’ve really had the decorating itch. I think it may be the sun finally shining through the windows showing the rather boring magnolia walls. Seriously the whole house was painted magnolia, which I’m sure some people would love but I hate it.
I decided to put up floating shelves instead of buying bedside tables as the room is quite small and we didn’t need the extra storage. The shelves are pretty small but there is enough room for a lamp (and somewhere for guests to put their phones). I love the way these floating shelves look next to the bed and they make a great alternative to bedside tables. How cute are these little copper lamps (they’re from Tesco and only cost £15) they look perfect on the shelves and provide just enough light for reading in bed (or scrolling through your phone).
This light shade was a total bargain at only £14.99 from Dunelm Mill. I’ve seen similar ones going for closer to £100 and no one really looks that closely at the ceiling light. Copper light shades have been getting more popular lately and you can find them pretty much anywhere. So happy with this one as it was such a bargain and looks so much more expensive than it was.
The little copper accessories sitting on top of the dresser are from H&M home. The mirror is also H&M home, I ordered this online and its a lot smaller than I expected (note to self always check the sizing before ordering). I did contemplate sending it back and looking for a bigger one but this is one of the only copper mirrors I come across which don’t cost a fortune so I decided to keep it. I have it hanging above the chest of drawers which seems like the most useful place for a mirror. H&M home has a great selection of bits and pieces at such great prices. Although you need to be careful as it’s easy to go crazy and spend a small fortune. But it’s worth checking out if you’re looking for some bits to finish off a room.
I wish I’d taken some before pictures to show you how much difference this has made, I was just too keen to get started. You’ll just have to imagine a plain magnolia room. I love this room now and can’t wait to invite guests around to stay.
The grey & copper look amazing together.

Thanks, I'm so happy with how it turned out. Grey walls seem to work with everything.
