It’s been a while since I’ve done a home snippets post (read my about my downstairs loo and guest bedroom). I thought I’d share a few pictures of my master bedroom with you today. I decorated this room earlier in the year at around the same time as the spare bedroom but just haven’t gotten around to sharing it with you. This is the first house where I’ve had a proper master bedroom, obviously, my old home had the main bedroom but this one is much bigger than the others and just feels like a master bedroom (it even has an en suite). Both me and husband like dark wood furniture (I know how can I even call myself a blogger when I don’t have all white furniture in my room) so I wanted to keep the walls neutral but not too light. After a fair few tester pots, I went with ‘Cookie Dough’ by Dulux for the walls which really makes the dark furniture stand out. Once I painted the walls I decided I wanted to keep the accessories in the room dark too, so picked up a few black bits and pieces and changed the lamp shades. Most bits are from IKEA including the black vases and the perfume trays (sold as candle trays), the cocktail glass shaped vase was actually part of the table centrepieces at our wedding. The bedside lights and ceiling light are from John Lewis (few years old now) and the lamb on my dressing table is from Made.com. I love the contrast between the truffle coloured walls and the black furniture and curtains, I think it gives the room a sophisticated grown-up look – perfect for a master bedroom.
To be honest with you there hasn’t been much happening on the decorating side of things over the summer. I think since you are out the house a lot more over the summer decorating doesn’t feature high on the list of priorities. Now the nights are drawing in and I’m spending more time at home I’m busy planning which room I want to tackle next. So expect a few more interior posts over the next couple of months.
