Finding a Niche

October 16, 2015

I’ve been blogging for over 9 months (where has the time gone) and my content has been a real mixed bag of beauty, fashion, lifestyle and interiors. I’ve been thinking about narrowing my content for a while now to make my blog more interesting for you to read. Although I enjoy writing about and sharing all of my interests with you, I don’t think this method has been creating interesting content. I want Tartan Brunette to be known as the place to go for something rather than no one really knowing what the blog is about. I don’t even know what this blog is about, when people ask I just say everything. Why would you come back if you have no idea what to expect?

I’m finally starting to understand why everyone tells new bloggers to find a niche to focus on rather than just write about everything. So after nearly 10 months of blogging, I’m listening to that advice and want to focus my content on one area.

I’m really interested in sustainable and ethical fashion and making more thoughtful choices about our purchases. I want to create a more ethical wardrobe and stop buying into fast fashion. I want this blog to focus on sustainable and ethical fashion and thinking about how we can stay stylish while avoiding fast fashion. I’m only at the start of this journey with my wardrobe and will be sharing the changes I’m making with you and what I’ve learnt with you. I will still share relevant lifestyle and beauty posts with you as it’s nice to mix things up once in awhile but the main focus will be on sustainable and ethical fashion and my mission to reduce my wardrobe. You may have also noticed the blog has had a bit of a makeover. I wanted to have a more professional design to go along with my new direction. This is one of Pipdig’s templates and installing it was one of the easiest things I’ve done. I highly recommend Pipdig templates if you’re looking for a new blog design, the whole process was so simple, fast and straightforward (even I managed it).

Remember to follow me on Bloglovin so you never miss a post and to find out what I’ve been up to follow me on Instagram and Facebook.
