Capsule Wardrobe Inspiration

January 8, 2016
In my how to create a capsule wardrobe post (read it here) I spoke about finding inspiration for your wardrobe. I thought I would share my favourite winter capsule wardrobe inspiration pins with you today to help get you started creating your inspiration boards. I use Pinterest as a way to collect all of my capsule wardrobe inspiration (as well as everything else). Being able to pin images to different boards is so helpful when you’re thinking about creating a new capsule wardrobe. I have a board full of blog posts and websites which talk about capsule wardrobes (you can see my capsule wardrobe board here). This is very useful if you want to refer back to anything you’ve read.

Outfit Inspiration

When you think of wardrobe inspiration you obviously think about outfit ideas first. My Autumn/Winter Style Inspiration board is my go to board for outfit ideas and inspiration. I tend to only pin outfits which I would like to wear and can recreate from my capsule wardrobe. As you can see from the images above I like oversized knits teamed with skinny jeans. Looking for outfits based on what you already wear a lot can help you find new ways to style what you already have.

Fashion and Style Quotes

I love a good motivational quote and have a Pinterest board full of them. I’ve picked out some fashion and style related quotes here. I’ve found many focus on style and elegance rather than having lots of clothes.

Minimal Closets

Over the past couple of months, I have been obsessed with minimal closets (as opposed to those massive ‘cribs’ style walk in wardrobes). There is something very stylish about a simple clothes rail with only a few pieces on it.

As a vintage wearer, my wardrobe has always been a mad mish-mash of colour and stuff that just doesn't go together! A capsule wardrobe always seemed something I could never do but mysteriously, I started wearing head-to-toe black a few months ago. I'll be reading all your blog posts for wisdom and tips on how to refine this weird change in my life!

That's really interesting to hear how your style is evolving. I've always been drawn to simpler styles so this has never been an issue for me. I do however think that you can include your vintage pieces into a capsule wardrobe – remember the total amount of clothes you choose is up to you so if you want more then have more.

  3. Ahh this is such a pretty blog post! I love all of your outfit choices and those quotes but those minimal closets are to die for! Creating a capsule wardrobe is something I really want to start this year so I'm definitely going to give you a follow on Pinterest in the hope of some inspiration! Thanks for sharing 🙂

Aren't they just!!! I would love a perfect clothes rail like that, but we've got fitted wardrobes in the house so wouldn't make much sense. Good luck with creating a capsule wardrobe, I have pinned loads of related posts on my capsule wardrobe board in Pinterest.
