Autumn Goals
I love reading goals posts on other blogs as they can be so inspiring (and gives you a chance to be a bit noisy) but I’ve never shared any blogging related goals on here before (until now that is). Rather than monthly goals, I thought I would share my autumn goals, so things I want to do/start doing before the end of the year.
I have no idea why but September always feels like a good month to make a change and a fresh start. It must be something to do with the new university/school year, although it’s been a while since I was heading back to uni at this time. Fun fact my last 2 job changes have taken place in September – proving it’s a great month for a change. So before I start rambling on about everything I’ve ever done during September here are my 5 autumn goals.

Have a Blog Revamp. Some of you may have noticed I had a poll on Twitter about whether or not I should change my blog name. I was starting to feel Tartan Brunette no longer reflected the type of content I write (this was started as a lifestyle blog and has turned into an ethical fashion blog). However, the majority of you said I should keep it and I have decided to follow your advice and stick with Tartan Brunette (plus changing names looks like a lot of work). But that doesn’t mean I don’t plan on making a few changes around here. I’ve decided I want to go self-hosted and move the blog from Blogger to WordPress. I’m currently looking into how to do this and plan to begin the move by the end of the month. A move will also bring with it a new design so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Be More Proactive. I want to maintain my current schedule of 5 posts a week but feel I need to be more proactive in contacting brands to pitch collaboration ideas and work to create opportunities. I feel sometimes that I’m not proactive enough and miss opportunities because of it. I also need to be way more active on social media, in particularly Twitter as some days to only content I share is my scheduled promo tweets.

Get Healthy. Summer in Edinburgh is really bad for your health, with the festival in town I spent a lot of time in pop-up bars and eating tasty street food. I want to start focusing more on my health, eating better and doing more exercise.

Minimalism. I wrote about my interest in minimalism a few weeks ago (read the post here) and I would like to begin the journey to a more minimalist home. I’m not talking about a spotless all white home with nothing in it, but I’d like to reduce some of the clutter we have lying around and get rid of things we no longer use.

Get Up Earlier. I’ve been working from home all summer and have gotten into the habit of sleeping later, which has been lovely but I feel I’m missing out on a large chunk of the day. I’m not talking about getting up at 5am or anything like that but I’d like to be out of bed and ready to work before 8.30am. I find I’m so productive when I start work earlier so want to start making that a habit. I figure if I do it now, it’ll be easier when the mornings start to get darker.

So there you have it, my 5 autumn goals. I’ll try to update you on how things are going later in the year.

    Great goals and I agree – there is something about September that always makes me want to smash the rest of the year! I've started getting up earlier and I'm starting to feel more in a routine. Good luck with your goals 🙂

    Oh, goals. Now I want to go and make some goals of my own. I always get antsy for change this time of year because I think that back-to-school programming is hard to get out of one's system.

    Ooft, I feel almost every one of those goals! I joined a gym a few months back and still haven't caught my stride (see what I did there) when it comes to a routine. Been thinking about getting up before work to fit it in but the thought is daunting!
    Perhaps I should publicise my goals as well. Do you find you're more likely to stick to them this way?

  4. I too want to be more social on twitter and tweet more than just my scheduled tweets , but I don’t want to always be on my phone so I can’t always win with that!
